sirius b luminosity and temperature

Blue stars, or B stars, are much smaller and hotter than the sun. abnormally low luminosity of Sirius B can be explained by assuming that Sirius B has a very low temperature or a very small diameter. Calculating a Star's Radius Using Stefan's Law Stefan's Law says that for any radiating object its luminosity, temperature and radius are related by this simple formula: 4 2 4 T R L EQ #1 where L is the luminosity, R is the radius, T is the surface temperature, = 3.141 and = 5.671 x 10-8 Watt/m2 K4. SURVEY . These are both related to the stellar temperature. It is shown that, if the emission is coronal, then the coronal temperature must be less than 150,000 K, and the coronal luminosity must be greater than 10 to the 33rd ergs/s. Sirius A Diameter: Approx 1.5 million miles (2.4 million km) - 171% x Sun Sirius B Diameter: Approx 7,300 miles (11,800 km) - 92% x Earth. A)Sirius B)Rigel C)the Sun D)Betelgeuse 39.Which star’s surface temperature is closest to the temperature at the boundary between Earth’s mantle and core? This diagram shows that there are 3 very different types of stars: Temperature on Earth is proportional to the fourth root of solar flux (T proportional to F 0.25), and flux F is proportional to the Sun’s luminosity. If Sirius B, with a total luminosity of 0.055 L ʘ, were substituted for the Sun, what would Earth’s average temperature become? It lies 8.3 light-years away from us. Sirus B is larger in radius than Ross 128. Which group of stars is considered to have lower than average luminosity as well as a higher than average temperature? Calculating a Star's Radius Using Stefan's Law Stefan's Law says that for any radiating object its luminosity, temperature and radius are related by this simple formula: 4 2 4 T R L EQ #1 where L is the luminosity, R is the radius, T is the surface temperature, = 3.141 and = 5.671 x 10-8 Watt/m2 K4. QUESTION 24: Sirius, the “dog star”, is a distance of ~2.5 pc from Earth. The mass and luminosity of a star also relate to its color. Note that Sirius B is much less luminous than Sirius … On the Main Sequence, the more massive stars are bigger, hotter, more luminous, and die faster. L = 4pR 2 s T 4, Where L is the luminosity in Watts, R is the radius in meters, s is the Stefan-Boltzmann constant (5.67 x 10-8 Wm-2 K-4), and T is the star's surface temperature in Kelvin. It has a radius 1.71 times that of the Sun and a surface temperature of 9,940 kelvins (K), which is more than 4,000 K higher than that of the Sun.
